When I was young, most people said I looked like my mom, but as I am getting old my appearance is nearing to my dad. My hair is still like my mom. It is little wavy and not white but gray. My wife says everything I do, from getting up to going to bed and from eating to wasting, is just like my dad. I am also frightened when I look the mirror. A strange old man but acquainted man was inside of the mirror. The man looked same as my dad I had seen for a long time. One day I saw the mole on my neck that had not been before. I was surprised how I didn't know the dark spot was getting bigger. I called wife and asked, " Did you see this black spot? "Oh, same spot your dad." Yes it was same spot with my dad. Otherwise, there were something different minds and oppinions in everday life, politics, job, and future I did not agree and I still get with him. I think he was very realistic and he was well adapted to real life. Maybe it was inevitable to survive in the difficult situation, Korean War. He escaped from North to South just before breaking the war. At that time I was two years old. He might have to do anythig to support his family and eventually he was supposed be realistic. My mom was very diligent and clever. I always wanted to be resemble her. Anyway they are not anymore here I will miss them until I'm leaving here like them.
I have three younger sisters who live in Korea. Now I live with my wife. I have one daughter and one son. I wish they will not resemble me. I hope they will have completely different characteristics with me.
Do your son and daughter live with you? How long have you been here? Do your sisters visit you in the U.S.A.?
ReplyDeletethe same characteristics may be a "continued tradition" for me:) it's not always bad to like your parents:) (same as your children like you) ^^
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how when we are young, we want to be completely different from our parents. But as we grow older, we become just like them! I guess it's just in our genes. I'm sure your dad was a very good man .. as you are! He had to work hard to take care of his four children. Do you get to see your sisters often?
